In Black Ships Before Troy, Rosemary Sutcliff offers a retelling of Homer’s Iliad that is written for young adults. The Lobel Center has developed an original teacher’s guide to the full text of Sutcliff’s work, including vocabulary lists, grammar lessons, and extensive commentary on the similarities and differences between the Homeric legends and the Jewish tradition.
